Spare mandrels and rollers are required when rolling many tubes. When using a torque controller system and it is noticed by the operator the finished ID is not being achieved, this is usually because wear is evident in the consumables. Both the mandrel and the rollers need to be changed at the same time.
No1 for Rolling Small Tubes
The microcontroller-based digital torque controller is one of the most widely used in North America and the world. Using only German motors, either Bosch or Eibenstock. The torque controller controls the drive unit to give consistent values on each tube rolled.
Setting up a test roll is advised to confirm the finished ID is achieved. Once established the other parameters can be set. These consist of the pause time when the torque value is met. The drive will then reverse out of the tube, which is also adjustable, followed by another pause time to allow the operator to set up on the next tube.
The tube ID should be checked through the operation using an internal tube gauge. This will highlight when rollers and mandrels will need to be changed. If the ID is starting to increase then there is wear occurring in the tool. Increasing the torque will return values to the required ID but rolls and mandrel will continue to wear and will need changing.
Always change rolls and mandrel together to avoid inconsistencies. Lubrication is also a key factor in rolling tubes. Using the right lubricant will give maximum life to the tool and consistency in the rolling of tubes.
Rental of Rolling Equipment
Sometimes it is more cost-effective to rent rather than buy. We at Powermaster Industrial realize this therefore we usually keep three rolling units in stock for rental. The rental period is a week minimum with your seven-day rental starting when we deliver to the site. The rental period ends when our carrier picks up the unit for return to us.

Other Equipment Needed
We suggest you go through our products above and search the Installation Tools for other tools required in the installation of small tubes in oil coolers and radiators.
These might consist of reamers to TEMA Spec or tube end facers to adjust projections.
